Welcome to the Docklands Aquarium information page!

Terry Farrel's breathtaking Docklands Aquarium design

The Docklands Aquarium, costing £60m, currently being designed by top architects Terry Farell and Partners, will be housed in the prestigious Silvertown Quays development . Terry Farrel is famous for his astonishing MI6 building at Vauxhall Cross.

The 168 acre Silvertown Quays regeneration, being developed by Silvertown Quays Ltd and Kajima Urban Development, is expected to cost a total of £1.5bn and will include 3,500 homes.

Bank of Scotland Corporate Banking is putting up an initial £25m to put the Silvertown Quays scheme through detailed planning - and of that, £6m will go towards Aquarium design.

The 50 acre Aquarium site will be run by the Zoological Society of London, who intend to make it into a significant tourist attraction - and will feature jellyfish, turtles and plants as well as fish.

The Aquarium is due to open to the public in 2006.

October 2004: Urban planning in the area is now quite advanced - you can expect the following streets to become very desirable addresses in a few years:

We hope to be able to show you a planning drawing of the area soon, which will truly set the Aquarium into context. We are also receiving information about the new Thames Gateway Bridge, which will certainly revolutionise the current deplorable state of the roads and the congestion in the area.
